SPEAK UP, SPEAK OUT: A Mural Celebrating Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Location of the mural at SUNY Old Westbury Campus.

Art for After Hours over the Summer of 2025 created this outdoor mural celebrating Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) at the SUNY Old Westbury Campus in Old Westbury, NY.

The mural is an outdoor wall semi-enclosing a public space, measuring four feet high by one hundred and thirty five feet in length.

A focal point on campus, our mural is meant to inspire students to use their voices especially in the social and political climate today.

There are twenty two individual faces and figures, fifteen hands, and an American Sign Language (ASL) grouping across the work identifying students with the mural’s message.

Some student faces representation along mural.

Many student groups are represented reflecting demographics at the University.
